An ideal job is one you enjoy and can do well. This is what led us to the charter industry. Duke grew up summers on the family boat and cruised throughout New England in the fifties. By the end of the fifties, in the Spring and Fall, he was delivering yachts for a living along the Atlantic Coast and the Great Lakes for various yacht manufacturers. Summers were spent in New England as a charter captain on motor yachts. Winters were spent chartering around Florida and the Bahamas. Darlene has a degree in business management.marketing from U MASS Boston and grew up on the water in Long Island. Darlene and Duke met in the early 70's and did several charters and deliveries together.

Chartering was a virgin business in these years. As time went on and Duke's repeat customers began to grow, it became necessary to find other vessels to put clients on. Inquiries for charters kept coming in - so we decided to devote our time to arranging charters from our land base of Boston.

As with many brokers, we booked charters out of our house at first. In 1979, we changed our name from Webb Yacht Charters to Charters Unlimited and established an office at Boston Harbor Marina - now called Marina Bay on Boston Harbor. As years have gone by, we have seen this tiny chartering industry grow and flourish into a diverse and professional business with a vast inventory of yachts available throughout the world for our customers. The myriad of organizations and clearing houses that have come into existence have done a fabulous job of standardizing and regulating many aspects of this business. Thus allowing us to grow and expand out horizons.

We have enjoyed our rapport with our varied friends in the boating world and salt water will always flow through our veins.
